There’s nothing like a good old fashioned backyard birthday party, except maybe a good old fashioned backyard birthday party with a GREAT theme! In an era of iPads and indoor play, we sometimes forget how fun it can be to get outside! Here are ten great ways to celebrate your special day in the great outdoors.
Don’t live by the beach?! Don’t worry! Bring Hawaii to you by hosting a luau right in your backyard. Think grass skirts, leis and tiki torches. If you really want to go all out, have a pig roast (just make sure you it won’t frighten any of your little guests).
A great theme for your favorite scout, a camp out birthday party doesn’t necessarily have to include a sleepover. Set up tents for activities, have a campfire and make some smores!
Turn your backyard into a farm with a few hay bales. Encourage your guests to wear their favorite pair of cowboy boots and maybe even hand out bandanas as party favors. Go above and beyond with tractor rides or a farm animal petting zoo.
So many memories are made surrounding county fairs and local carnivals. Why not invite your friends over for some ring toss, a homemade fun house and some cotton candy!
Who doesn’t love a little kickball? Gather your friends, choose teams and play some serious (or not so serious) games.
I don’t know about at your house, but America Ninja Warrior is huge here! Why not set up an obstacle course and watch your little ninjas compete.
Bright colors, a pinata and maybe some mariachi music. Feel free to throw in some chips & salsa or a taco bar! If you’ve got a little Coco fan you could even celebrate Día de Muertos!
Nothing says summer like water fun! Water balloons, squirt guns or even buckets can provide hours of fun and laughter. Just make sure your guests come prepared to get wet and maybe even bring an extra set of clothes!
What kid doesn’t love cowboys?! Host “horse” races and lasso contests with your little cowboys and cowgirls. Or be the talk of the town with pony rides.
Sadly, drive-in movies are few and far between these days. Why not bring this favorite pastime back to life right in your backyard! Create a big screen with a few bed sheets and play the latest blockbuster or children’s classic. Don’t forget the candy & popcorn!
No matter what the theme, be sure to invite all of your guests to upload their photos and videos on fotobooks after the party so that the memories of backyard fun last a lifetime!
